My Rating: ★★★★☆

This isn’t my usual genre, and it took me a good 50% or so to really appreciate how good this book is. But I am SO glad I stuck with it.

Elizabeth Zolt, Chemist extraordinaire, fighting against sexism and to be recognised for her work in the 1960s. This book follows Elizabeth through relationships, workplace sexual harassment and discrimination, through parenthood and her career as a TV superstar. A must read for the ladies out there!

Elizabeth, despite being very matter of fact, and unemotional was so very likeable. And Six-Thirty, what a wonderful addition and companion.

The misogyny is real in this book. The 50s/60s sound like an awful place for a woman and I really rooted for Elizabeth. Harriet was a wonderful character, as well as Walter.

What a beautiful tale of friendship, loss and overcoming the odds. It had me laughing, it had me angry, and the last 40 pages had me utterly bawling my eyes out.

I’d recommend this to anyone wanting to edge out of their comfort zone. A heart-warming read.
