I thought I’d try and broaden my reading a little and read a classic. Having enjoyed Pride and Prejudice, I chose this.
OMG, I regretted my choice from the first few pages. Like, I understood all the words individually, but the way they were put together? Nope. I didn’t have the foggiest what the heck was going on for the most part!
Not being the sort to quit, I persevered on… it didn’t get much better. The last 20% seemed slightly easier (which is where it earned it’s second star).
Dickens isn’t for me, it took me SO long to read. Mainly because I feel I read most pages twice, trying to get a better understanding of it. I felt like I was in school again, felt like I needed a teacher to go over it and analyse it for me.
